THE 2022 NORWEGIAN CHURCH AID & DANCHURCHAID ANNUAL CONFERENCE

The 2022 NCA-DCA National Conference was held in Mangochi district. The conference was held under a theme: “Gender Equality and Justice For Economic Empowerment” and graced by Minister of Gender Community Development and Social Welfare, Hon. Dr. Patricia Kaliati and Country Director, Malawi Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and DanChurchAid DCA, Havard Hovdhaugeni .

The event was hosted by Luntha Television in collaboration with Malawi Economic Justice Network, and brought together faith actors, traditional leaders, Members of Parliament (MP), NCA-DCA implementing partners and communities at large

AFRICAN CONFERENCE ON DEBT & DEVELOPMENT II (AfCoDD)II

The African Conference on Debt and Development II (AfCoDD)II was held in Lilongwe, Malawi themed: From Recovery to Reform: Sisi Ndio Tuko II Stop the Bleeding. The conference was financially supported by African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD) and hosted by Malawi Economic Justice Network and other local partners. The conference provided a platform to discuss and chart Africa’s path towards political, economic, and social self-determination platform. The event emphasised on the need for Africa to have a seat at the decision table and find best practices to address social-economic challenges the continent is currently encountering such include debt increment (unsustainable debt), social and economic inequalities, pandemics (Covid-19), and climate change to mention a few. It also stressed that the current debt problem cannot be addressed without dismantling the existing financial structure. This can only be achieved if all countries in Africa move in one accord and draw advantage from their strength as a continent.
