Enhancing Non-State Actor’s Engagement in the Continental Free Trade Area Processes

This is a short intervention being funded by the Consumer Unity and Trust Society International Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS) Zambia.  MEJN has signed a contract with the Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS) Zambia for implementation of a trade governance project which runs from August 2020 to December 2020 with a possibility of another contract from January 2021 to December 2021. The funding under the current contract is US$ 10,600 (about MK7.9 million). The project seeks to enhance the participation of non-state actors in the negotiations for the establishment of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA) which are currently underway. Implementation of the project commenced and is expected to mobilize the voice of non-state actors and feed them into the Malawi’s preparatory processes for the negotiations. The project is expected to contribute to ensuring that the AfCTA is pro poor and that all relevant stakeholders are participating in the processes.
